Cheap Ferry to Dun laoghaire Port

Dun Laoghaire Port, the largest man-made port in Western Europe is situated just seven miles south of the city of Dublin. The port can easily be reached from Dublin in 20 minutes by DART, the suburban rail link. There is also a new daily direct bus service from Dublin Airport to Dún Laoghaire via the Port Tunnel. Dublin Bus also offer a bus service from the port to various destinations in and around the city of Dublin.

For people wishing to drive themselves to the port, simply follow the N11 from Dublin’s city centre, passing through Donnybrook. The port is clearly signposted. Car parking is available at the port and a pay and display system is currently in operation. Both short term and long-term car parking is available, including 26 parking spaces which have been designated for disabled drivers.

The port terminal at Dun Laoghaire offers a full range of facilities. There is a Dublin Tourism information booth opened between 10:00 to 18:00 every day except Sunday. There is a bureau de change is available during office hours Monday to Friday, outside of these hours there are ATMs available and a Euro Change Machine. The Harbour Gift Shop and Newsagents are open everyday from 09:00 to 16:00 and 19:00 to 21:00. Internet, photo booth and a left luggage counter are also available.

Stena Lines operate a once a day daily ferry service from Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead onboard the Stena HSS Explorer. The Stena HSS Explorer is the largest fast ferry in the world. It can accommodate up to 1,500 passengers. It takes one hour and 40 minutes travelling at a speed of 40 knots to travel the 56 nautical miles to Wales from Ireland.

Dun Laoghaire Harbour is a popular destination for walking, especially at week-ends. The West Pier at the harbour is popular with local anglers. Between the east and the west piers, you will find four waterfront yacht clubs.
