Cheap Ferries from Holyhead to Dublin

Holyhead ferry port is situated in the county of Anglesey, North Wales. The port itself is very busy – one of the busiest in the UK, and its facilities complement this fact. Holyhead to Dublin ferry services are operated by Irish Ferries and Stena Line.

Holyhead’s ferry terminal has facilities including cafés serving snacks and refreshments, a bureau de change, cash points, a baby changing facility and good disabled access and toilets. There is also an information desk. A long term car park is a short distance from the ferry terminal. A courtesy bus, which coincides with ferry times, between the two is provided.

Irish Ferries’ new superferry and a high speed ferry provide Holyhead to Dublin ferry services. The high speed ferry, Jonathan Swift, departing several times daily, offers a crossing time of less than two hours. The superferry, Ulysses, at 12 storeys high, is the largest ferry in the world and offers a crossing time of three hours.

Stena Line is one of the world’s leading ferry companies and with its subsidiary, Scandlines AB, transports nearly 20 million passengers a year. Stena Line has up to four daily sailings on the Holyhead to Dublin route and offers a crossing time of around three hours.

Dublin Port, only a few minutes from Dublin City Centre, handles 1.5 million passengers annually and is ranked as the busiest ferry port in Ireland. Port facilities include modern terminals with good disabled facilities, baby changing rooms, a convenience store and a coffee shop.

Dublin Port is well connected to Ireland’s national road network, so that passengers, with cars, disembarking from the Holyhead to Dublin ferry can be on their way quickly. Bus number 53 and the DART train service provide transport for foot passengers from the port to Dublin’s city centre.
